10 Garage Tools Every Car Builder Needs
FBR Garage · May 18, 2026 · 5 min read

Start with a quality socket set in both SAE and metric, a torque wrench you trust, and jack stands rated well above your car's weight.
Good lighting changes everything. A rechargeable work light does more for a Saturday project than most specialty tools.
A drain pan, a set of pliers and cutters, a breaker bar, and a decent multimeter cover most of what a first build actually needs.
Buy specialty tools when a job demands them. Renting or borrowing a spring compressor is smarter than owning a bad one.
